Glorenza, the smallest town in Italy, enchants you with its charming medieval flair, the town walls and the three picturesque gate towers. Hardly changed since the 16th century, you can feel the eventful history of the former trading town in every corner. During this tour you will get to know the romantic character, the rich cultural life and the idyllic surroundings that make Glurns a unique alpine jewel.
Program:
On the morning of the tour, you will be picked up directly at the hotel in a comfortable premium executive van. You will drive to the Vinschgau Valley, where a unique cultural experience awaits you: a city tour with magical impressions and historical highlights, mediated by a local Experience Manager.
Discover Glorenza's glorious past on a private city tour
Your exclusive guided tour of the town will take you past the completely preserved ring walls to the 16th century town houses, which gives Glurns a picturesque image of living history. You will learn fascinating and interesting facts about a whole series of fortified towers that enclose the town and discover picturesque alleys and nooks with a very special charm.
That's what it sounds like when a city tells its secrets - you'll listen intently to little anecdotes and inspiring stories from your personal Experience Manager, who is deeply rooted in this historic city. He's sure to reveal a personal favorite place or two.
Aperitif in the 800 years old Romanesque town walls
The city tour ends in front of the Flurin Tower, where you will enjoy an exclusive aperitif in the Flurin Restaurant of the same name. The tower is one of the oldest surviving structures in the city and among other things, it served as law court and administrational center for the valley. Even the Emperor Maximilian I used it as a residence when being in the area.
Visit to the first whiskey distillery in Italy
Afterwards you will visit the first whisky distillery in Italy - a family business that combines quality and vision, enjoyment and aesthetics, tradition and innovation.
You can look forward to the guided tour in the underground bunkers from the Second World War, where the extraordinary whisky is stored. The tour is rounded off with the tasting of 4 noble PUNI single malts, which are not a copy of the Scottish original, but incorporate the terroir of South Tyrol and Italy. One of the noble single malts, PUNI AURA, was recently named "Europe's Whisky of the Year" in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2021.
"Make no mistake: this is a beautifully constructed malt whisky: I doubt if Michelangelo could have done better."
- Jim Murray
